BioNaesala is the intelligent and cunning King of Kilvas and the leader of the Raven Tribe--one of the bird laguz found on the continent of Tellius. The Raven Tribe inhabits islands that lack many natural resources, making the kingdom very poor and unappealing to beorc and laguz alike. Like the majority of laguz, Naesala considers beorcs inferior; however, it is notable that he doesn’t feel particularly spiteful towards beorc other than the detached hatred over the massacre of the Heron Tribe.
When Naesala became king, he began ordering troops of ravens to begin pirating the waters around the poor island country of Kilvas; he believed that allocating a lot of money would allow him to purchase better land than what the ravens had been living on for generations, which would keep his tribe from stagnating. However, a particular heist-gone-wrong earned the attention of the dragon laguz, who would later alert King Tibarn of the Hawk Tribe of Naesala’s work. Before Naesala’s pirating was brought to the other laguz tribes’ attention, he began to help Daein soldiers attack the Begnion empress’ ship—only to decide that the battle was not going their way and that they were better off stealing the treasure on the ships (which they in fact do).
Shortly after Naesala was told to stop his pirating, he was approached by Duke Oliver of Begnion to deliver to him Reyson; Oliver had an infatuation with beautiful things and sought the rare and fair members of the Heron Tribe. Believing that he would be able to rescue Reyson after being given his reward, Naesala led the heron prince to Serenes Forest, where Duke Oliver lay in waiting to take the prince away. Unfortunately for Naesala, Reyson took it upon himself to escape.
Naesala later went on to offer the ravens’ services to Daein again, effectively making them the enemies of the newly-formed Crimean army. When it became apparent that the ravens’ sheer number would affect a particular battle, Reyson reluctantly spoke to Naesala about withdrawing from the battlefield. Naesala tells the prince that, even though Reyson returned to Serenes Forest because of a trap, in a roundabout way, he helped Reyson find his missing sister. He promises to stop aiding Daein as an act of goodwill to Reyson and leaves with his ravens.
After withdrawing from the battle, Naesala kept his tribe out of the war; he only returned to rescue Leanne, who had been captured earlier on from Phoenicis. He also offered his support as the army closed in on Ashnard.
